Molecular Formula:
Molecular Weight:
Noscapine hydrochloride, the hydrochloride salt form of Noscapine which binds to tubulin and arrests mammalian cells in mitosis at a concentration of 20 µM . Noscapine induces apoptosis (in HeLa cells: IC50 = 25 µM; in thymocytes: IC50 =10 µM) and inhibit CYP2C19 (IC50 = 400.3 nM (human)), HepG2 (IC50 >1000 nM (human)) and A549 (EC5050 = 25 µM (human)).
Brife Description:
Binds to tubulin; Arrests cells in mitosis; Induces apoptosis (in HeLa cells: IC50 = 25 µM; in thymocytes: IC50 =10 µM)

1.The antitussive and expectorant drug Duopect evaluated by the preferential test.
Wójcicki J;Szwed G;Drozdowska-Ksiazek D Arch Immunol Ther Exp (Warsz). 1976;24(4):549-52.
The effect of the preparation Duopect (narcotine hydrochloride + glyceryl guiacolate) on intensity and frequency of cough and expectoration was evaluated by the preferential test in 62 patients with chronic bronchitis. The preparation was compared to narcotine and to a placebo in a double-blind study. Duopect was found to be an effective antitussive and expectorant medicine with only minimal and transient side effects.
