Targets:
Glucagon Receptor
Description:
MK-0893 is a selective glucagon receptor antagonist. It can block glucagon binding to the human GCGR and antagonize glucagon-induced intracellular accumulation of cAMP with nanomolar potency. MK-0893 has strong antihyperglycemic efficacy in preclinical models and prominent effects on hepatic gene-expression related to amino acid metabolism. But Phase-II clinical trials in Type-2 diabetes mellitus were discontinued.
