|Description||(-)-Epigallocatechin is the most abundant flavonoid in green tea. It is a major green tea polyphenol with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities. It can bind to unfolded native polypeptides and prevent conversion to amyloid fibrils. It is a potent inhibitor of amyloidogenic cystatin I66Q amyloid fibril formation in vitro. It prevents amyloidogenic cystatin fibril formation by stabilizing the molecule in its native-like state as opposed to redirecting aggregation to disordered, amorphous aggregates. It induced the formation of hydroxyl radicals in E. faecalis. It has been shown to scavenge DPPH radicals and prevent the growth of several different AML cell lines at micromolar concentrations.|
