C12 NBD ceramide is a long-chain fluorescent ceramide derivative. It is hydrolyzed efficiently by alkaline ceramidase from P. aeruginosa and by neutral ceramidase from mouse liver, and can be used for the measurement of alkaline and neutral ceramidase activity.
