Targets:
Antibacterial
Description:
Amoxicillin is a moderate-spectrum, bacteriolytic, β-lactam antibiotic in the aminopenicillin family used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms. It is usually the drug of choice within the class because it is better-absorbed, following oral administration, than other β-lactam antibiotics. It is also susceptible to degradation by β-lactamase-producing bacteria, which are resistant to a narrow spectrum of β-lactam antibiotics, such as penicillin.

1.Diffuse reflectance near infrared-chemometric methods development and validation of amoxicillin capsule formulations.
Khan AN1, Khar RK2, Ajayakumar PV3. J Pharm Bioallied Sci. 2016 Apr-Jun;8(2):152-60. doi: 10.4103/0975-7406.175973.
OBJECTIVE: The aim of present study was to establish near infrared-chemometric methods that could be effectively used for quality profiling through identification and quantification of amoxicillin (AMOX) in formulated capsule which were similar to commercial products. In order to evaluate a large number of market products easily and quickly, these methods were modeled.
