1. Enhancement of antimicrobial activity by co-administration of poly(propylene imine) dendrimers and nadifloxacin

For the first time we evaluated the combined action of PPI dendrimers and nadifloxacin against Gram-negative bacteria. Infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria are a major clinical problem in view of the development of their antibiotic resistance. Therefore the development of new drugs active against these pathogens is very important. In the present work we investigated the combined antibacterial activity of nadifloxacin and three types of 4th generation PPI dendrimers: unmodified PPI dendrimers and PPI dendrimers with a surface modified by attaching 25% or 100% maltose (PPI-G4, PPI-25%mG4 and PPI-100%mG4, respectively).
