Chiral synthesis (enantioselective synthesis, also called asymmetric synthesis) is the synthesis of a compound by a method that favors the formation of a specific enantiomer or diastereomer. It is a key process in modern chemistry and is particularly important in the field of medicinal chemistry, as the different enantiomers or diastereomers of a molecule often have different biological activity.

BOC Sciences has assembled a world-class team of experts to bring extensive experience in diastereoselective and enantioselective synthesis at very large scale. We provide all the services, like asymmetric catalysis, chiral auxiliaries, biocatalysis, enantioselective organocatalysis, chiral pool synthesis and chiral resolution to produce chiral pharmaceutical intermediates and API’s. BOC Sciences’ R&D scientists always keep themselves informed about the latest development in asymmetric synthesis, in order to identify the best synthetic route yielding pure enantiomers.

Asymmetric catalysis
Asymmetric catalysis refers to the use of chiral coordination complexes as catalysts, like chiral ligands and chiral-at-metal complexes. BOC Sciences’libraries are well equipped with thousands of enantioselective catalysts, which are effective at low concentrations making them well suited to industrial scale synthesis. Asymmetric hydrogenation, the most versatile example of chiral synthesis, is also widely used to meet our client’s needs.
For example:

Chiral auxiliaries
In some cases the only available stereoselective methodology relies on chiral auxiliaries. With the effort of BOC Sciences, these reactions are very well-studied, allowing the most time-efficient access to enantiomerically pure products.

BOC Sciences is capable of making use of biological compounds, ranging from isolated enzymes to living cells, to perform chemical transformations. A wide range of biocatalysts are screened before an effective reagent is found to meet our customer’s needs. We ensure very high ee's and reagent specificity, as well as mild operating conditions and low environmental impact for academic research. The process will be further confirmed at larger scale at BOC Sciences so that the process can be commercially viable.
For example:

Enantioselective organocatalysis
BOC Sciences’scientists have good experienced in organocatalysis, in which the rate of the chemical reaction is increased by an organic molecule consisting of carbon, hydrogen, sulfur and other non-metal elements. When the organocatalyst is chiral, enantioselective synthesis can be achieved.
For example:

Chiral pool synthesis
As one of the simplest approaches for chiral synthesis, chiral pool synthesis does not involve asymmetric induction, instead a chiral starting material is manipulated through successive reactions to obtain the desired target compound. Chiral pool synthesis is especially attractive if your target molecules having similar chirality to a relatively inexpensive naturally occurring building-block such as a sugar or amino acid. BOC Sciences has the function of sourcing such chiral raw materials at competitive and reasonable cost through our overseas network. Our scientists are well trained to evaluate the project and find the most effective way to save your time and money.
For example:

Chiral resolution
Apart from chiral synthesis, chirally pure materials can be obtained by chiral resolution. BOC Sciences is capable of providing a number of methods, including spontaneous resolution, chemical resolution, enzymatic resolution and column chromatography resolution to isolate one enantiomer from a racemic mixture.
